Meet Harv Westeringh

I was born in 1972, in Greendale.  My family had a dairy farm, and I worked on it until 1999.  I started school at Greendale Elementary, and then to Timothy Christian School, where I graduated in 1990.  After graduation, I went to Fraser Valley College for one year, and then to UBC for 3 years, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce.

I joined the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board as a Realtor in 1994.  In 1996, I started building single-family houses. Back in 1990, I put my name on the “Graduated Entry Program” that the dairy industry created for young farmers.  In 2010, my name had worked itself down the list, and the dairy industry called and offered me an opportunity to start my own dairy farm.  In 2011, Lisa and I leased a small farm in Rosedale and started a small dairy farm. We operated that small dairy farm until last year when we sold it.

Lisa and I are married and have 2 children, who are both in their 20’s. I love to hike, kayak, and play hockey.  In the past, I was president of the East Chilliwack Elementary Parent Advisory Council, president of the Upper Fraser Valley Hockey Association, involved with Chilliwack Minor Hockey as a coach and a trainer, youth soccer coach, involved with the Chilliwack Holstein 4-H, member of the Old-Timers Hockey League, and past director of the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board.

I have lived in Greendale, Chilliwack, Sardis, Eastern Hillsides, and currently live in Rosedale.  My office is on Luckakuck, and I do a daily commute through town. District 1881 is thriving, Molsons is in production, and our mall is being revitalized. These are successes, but we still have our challenges ahead of us.

If I am successful in my re-election bid, I will continue to push for lower taxes, while focusing on the following issues:

  • Crime and Public Safety
  • Increasing Affordable Housing
  • Protecting the Agricultural Land Reserve and Supporting Our Local Farmers
  • Expansion of Our Local Economy
